Week 42: Someone Honorably Mentioned Us!

We didn't win the big prize. You can watch the reaction video here (I won't be winning awards for cinematography anytime soon). I will say this: I had NO thought that we would win. However after a day of people pumping me up at ProgIO, I thought we might have a chance. I'm not kidding when I say I put together a speech 10 minutes before the award was announced. Here's what I came up with:

20 years ago I found my tribe: Ad operations people. I’ve loved being a part of the community trying to get shit done. This is for them!

I didn't get to say that on stage, but I get to say it here. Thank you everyone.

I've buried the lede: In View partners and publishers, you have access to a new report we've made available and it's a big part of our 2022 plans. If you have any interest in Creative Services, check out our Creative Services Report that shares our thoughts as well as survey results about how publishers think about the topic. This is only the beginning. Here's the link for those of you who have accounts. If you don't, DM me and we'll explain what we are doing.

Slack Stuff:

It's only for our publishers, but I do want to give everyone an idea of what we are discussing. Our partners get additional insights.
  • Does anyone know of any full stack development vendors that specialize in ad tech needs?
  • Apparent PVeCPM is the UK version of RPM. Two cultures separated by a common language.
  • Just confirming what is the latest openRTB version. 2.5 or 3.0?
  • Hi all does anyone have suggestions for a native vendor? (Don't worry, we already recommended they watch our First Impressions with Nativo)
  • Is anyone using funding choice on web? Specifically, does it work with UAM/TAM?
  • Can anyone recommend a firm or a person who specializes in creating email templates?
  • I’m seeing a very large discrepancy between total code served count and total impressions. Has anyone else dealt with this?
  • Has anyone looked at environmental sustainability when evaluating partners/their programmatic supply chain? Or how SPO can tie into company sustainability policies?
  • Does anyone have a survey provider that can create surveys that can be trafficked as GAM creatives in a 300x250 slot? We're specifically looking for something that will work in-app so we don't have to build our own survey solution.
  • In GAM, using 1 sponsorship line item, is there a way to have it serve on Wednesdays, but only every other week?
  • how many pubs are filtering traffic to your analytics and ad server using the IAB Spiders and Bots list? or using it to block bots altogether from your sites?

David has a passion for helping content owners create, maximize and future-proof monetization channels, and operationalize a “success-as-a-service” culture.
He has spent the last 15+ years focused on revenue operations and ad technology, helping publishers of all sizes build out ad operations teams and ad tech stacks. Beyond this, he has also focused on helping companies expand their programmatic capabilities, campaign analytics, in-house creative, yield practices, and more. He’s also spearheaded the strategies on industry-wide issues like the cookieless future, self-serve, ad blocking, brand safety, among others. 
Most recently Sr. Director of Digital Ad Platform Strategies at Advance Local, David is presently spending his time exploring consulting projects, and building out Bootleg (www.bootlegproject.com), a project focused on bringing live-streamed music concerts to fans, to be viewed live or on-demand.

He is now looking for senior-level positions in the media industry that align with his experience in revenue operations and ad technology. While more focused on the content/publisher side of the ecosystem, he is also very interested in exploring opportunities in ad tech and agency-side. And also quite interested in investigating transferring his knowledge/skills to the music industry.
