Feb 22: Clean Your Room!

articles Feb 22, 2022

A couple of weeks ago, Beeler.Tech hosted a publisher-only discussion about clean room technology (the picture above is what I think I would look like in a clean room staring intently into your soul). Look – a lot of the conversations we facilitate are on behalf of our partners, but we also listen to what our publisher community wants to talk about. The goal however is to move beyond just talkin' and get to actionin'. I took all the notes from the call and made a Clean Room Snapshot Report. It's 4 or 5 pages of highlights, content recommendations and proposed next steps.

Partners have access (look for more details in the In View Newsletter).
Publishers have access (also on the site in First Impressions, but we'll post in slack as well).
I'm considering making it a downloadable for everyone else, but want feedback first.

More snapshot reports to come (outsourcing and creative services are already posted).

Because you asked: Yes, I'll be in St. Pete's for AdMonsters Pub Forum and you should be as well! I'll be interviewing the Golf.com CEO and CDO about what they've built - something really special there (with some help from me). If you're still on the fence about attending: SEND. ME. A. NOTE. I'll see what I can do to help get you there.

HTL Debug

An ads debugging extension, it analyzes Google ad configuration (GAM / GPT), Prebid, HTLBID, Amazon header bidding, and consent management (CMP).

It's in the Chrome Store.

If you haven't tried it, give it a shot.

If you use it, review it. Let others know how it works. We need to share good tools that streamline our processes.

We have it on our Resources + Tools list. (which needs a rework, we know)

New Beeler.Cast Episodes are out!

Beeler.Cast EP 206
Maceo Rémy and Sunil Sharma

The Media/FinTech connection is not what you think

First of a series of podcasts exploring the intersection of media, FinTech and cryptocurrency. Forget monkey NFTs: FinTech could unlock new untapped marketplaces for media companies. To set the stage, our first episode is with Maceo Rémy and Sunil Sharma to dispel some myths and outline a strategy media companies should start to think through.

You can listen to this episode here!

Beeler.Cast EP 205: Judy Shapiro
The Collapse of the Ad Tech Surveillance Economy

I know Judy as the Editor-In-Chief at the The Trust Web Times and she's doing a hell of a lot more than that.

AdTech is trying to cope with the triple dynamics of:

  1. Google targeting changes (FLoC to Topics);

  2. Increasing pressure for real AdTech user privacy; and

  3. Mounting realization that part of AdTech’s revenue engine is hate/ shock and misinformation content.

Time for Pubs to be Boulder on what they need

What can I tell you about the Base Camp agenda?

  • We're talking about the talent crisis and taking action.
  • We're mapping out processes so we can establish best practices, speak a common language around roles and responsibilities and ultimately understand costs.
  • That mapping is going to lead to discussions about outsourcing and automation.
  • We're going to talk about making good decisions and then making more decisions.
  • We're going to put the User First in our monetization strategies.

That's not the half of it. Seriously. Quite ambitious, you say? Well that's because we're already getting Base Camp attendees together to talk through the topics. Boulder is only part of the process.

If you've reached out about attending but I haven't replied, I will.
If you haven't asked for an invitation, fill out the form on our event page.
If you're wanting to be a VIP (a tech company who attends), join the waiting list.

Registration is open, so if you've been invited, look for the information on how to register.

In View/Slack Stuff:

Beeler.Tech Slack is back with a vengeance! Pubs, you're going to want to slide back into slack to catch all of this. Here's the application to join. Partners, we'll give you a report of what's relevant.
  • Publisher's take and questions on The Trade Desk announcement
  • Time to ditch AMP?
  • Privacy Sandbox on Andriod
  • More TCF discussion

and a lot more!
