April 11: Is Shawshank Redemption about AdOps?

No, not at all. I'm 100% certain that Stephen King didn't think one second about digital advertising when he wrote Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. 

So why did I bring it up?

Because sometimes when I talk to AdOps people, it sounds like prison movie dialogue. 

 "Maybe things will get better," they say with the energy of someone 10 years behind bars. "Better get back to it," as they put their fingers on their keyboards as if shackled to it. "What are you going to do?" as they resign themselves to staying in their place.

Which is why at Base Camp we start planning our prison break. No commiserating. No fatalism. We're going to Boulder on a mission to change our situation. Even if I have to climb through 500 yards of shit smelling foulness to get us there.

 

Note that climbing through 500 yards of shit smelling foulness is not one of our activities at Base Camp. Hiking. Spa time.. A bike tour. Giving out hygiene kits to the homeless. Visiting a weed farm. No crawling through sewer pipes though.
